Education & Youth Initiative

The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation is pleased to have funding available to groups and organizations within Wilkinsburg that support the academic and civic endeavors of our youth. The WCDC youth initiative has $3,000 available which may be awarded in its entirety or in smaller amounts depending on the number of applicants and the quality of the applications.

The 2015 grant cycle is now closed. Please check back in February 2016 for an update on next year’s program.

• To apply for the mini-grant, submit an application.
• The deadline for 2015 applications is Friday, April 10; winner(s) will be notified June 1.
• Awarded projects must be completed by August 31, 2015.

2015 Award Winners: Pittsburgh Urban Christian School & Wilkinsburg Student Union

This year’s funding will allow the Pittsburgh Urban Christian School (PUCS) to provide Robotics Camp scholarships to five low-income students that reside within Wilkinsburg’s boundaries. In addition, funding will also support the Wilkinsburg Student Union’s summer program, Youth Media Corps, which will engage high school students in the fields of journalism and reporting.

• 2012 & 2011: Wilkinsburg Community Ministry for the Youth Meal Partnership, which provides hot, nutritious meals to youth enrolled in the Wilkinsburg Boys & Girls Club summer program.
• 2010: Wilkinsburg Boys & Girls Club for summer camp scholarships and sponsorship of a field trip to Idlewild Park.
